American Correctional Association (ACA)
Policy compliance is monitored through the Internal Management Audit (IMA) process for all facilities. DYS has earned the Golden Eagle Award from the American Correctional Association for obtaining ACA accreditation for all facilities, central office, parole, training academy, and juvenile community residential facilities in the state.
Performance-based Standards (PbS)
PbS is a data driven, continuous improvement process. The cycle includes collecting data, analyzing performance, and creating improvements with a strategy for implementing change. Through our partnership with PbS, we are included in the national field average of sites collaborating around research-based services and best practices.
Ohio Youth Assessments System (OYAS)
The OYAS was created as a way to identify the most effective interventions for a youth based on their likelihood to re-offend. Utilizing the OYAS to guide services helps ensure youth are referred for and receive the treatment required to meet their needs. Visit our OYAS page for additional information about training.
Policy Administration
Manages the workflow for drafting, reviewing, and revising agency policies within the electronic document management system (PowerDMS). Implements strategies for creating a policy-driven culture (e.g. Info graphics, videos, and pocket guides) that supports/ assists staff with understanding and retaining policy content. Advises on content for policy training and initiates policy compliance activities. Visit our policy page.
Research and Data
Research and data informs our work as an agency. Data is collected, analyzed, and used to identify patterns and trends. Information is compiled and shared to meet the needs of our internal and external stakeholders.
